A rundown of the latest sequel and reboot movie news

If you are a big movie fan you will know that a whole host of recent movie news has been released regarding various sequels and reboots. The first trailer for the next Jack Ryan feature called Shadow Recruit has just been released. However, you will soon notice that there is no Tom Cruise and in fact Chris Pine of Star Wars reboot fame has taken over the titular role. He will be starring alongside Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner and Kenneth Branagh in another high-octane thriller.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Olson is the latest member of the cast confirmed for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Having made her name with excellent performances in low-budget indie flicks, this will be Olson's first huge budget picture.

Another actress hoping to make it into the biggest film of her life is Saoirse Ronan who recently revealed that she has read for a part in Star Wars: Episode VII. Rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood, the young Irishwoman could even play a role alongside Daniel Day-Lewis who is also the subject of rumours.

New writers have been confirmed for both The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and a potential Fantastic Four reboot. Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinker will be working on the new Spider-Man film, with X-Men screenwriter Simon Kinberg being brought on board to rejuvenate the Fantastic Four franchise.

Finally, five new posters and a new trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug were released this week.
