Next Super Bowl halftime show artist announced
For many Americans the highlight of the sporting season is the Super Bowl, but for millions of music fans around the world it is often more interesting to know who will be performing the legendary halftime show. The next Super Bowl will be on February 2, 2014 and the chosen artist is Bruno Mars, one of the biggest artists in the world at the moment.
However, for those of you who know your Super Bowl history, you'll also know that some of the biggest artists of all time have performed at the event. Back in 1993 Michael Jackson performed some of his biggest hits, while in 1997 The Blues Brothers, ZZ Top and James Brown took to the stage. In 1999 things got even more retro with both legendary rockers Kiss and soul star Stevie wonder performing.
Just a couple of years later and Aerosmith performed in front of millions around the world accompanied by comedians Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler. The very next year in 2002 U2 performs three tracks, while more recently in 2005 Paul McCartney performed several Beatles numbers in a surprise performance. The next year at Super Bowl XL the one and only Rolling Stones played some of their hits including "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction".
Finally, only three years ago the halftime show at the Super Bowl was performed by The Who, performing five numbers in front of a packed audience.
