New games to look forward to

Although Christmas time often seems to be when many much anticipated video games are released, there is also plenty to look forward to a little sooner than that.

First up is Sonic Lost World, which is due to be released at the start of October on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo recently released a preview video of the new game, and many were happy to see the return of Sonic's shape-shifting colour powers first seen in Sonic Colors. The game is expected to be quite different on the two different platforms, with the Wii Uversion having the exclusive feature of Colour Powers being controlled by the GamePad by touching, aiming and tilting.

Of course, it is hard to avoid the understandable release of new games close to Christmas to take advantage of all of those demanding kids. One such release is Call of Duty: Ghosts, which is expected at the start of November. Various details have been emerging about the game, including the introduction of ‘dynamic map events’, which are expected to change the entire landscape during matches. If you're desperate for a preview, developers Infinity Ward are expected to show off the multiplayer element of the game atGamescom next month.

Other great games to look forward to are GTA 5 and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. These games are due to be released in mid-September and the start of November respectively with both developers promising the best version yet. Rockstar North are quoted as saying GTA 5 will be ’much faster’ than previous games, while Ubisoft have just released a new trailer for Assassin's Creed 4 which shows a more cinematic style of gameplay.
