Deadpool Coming to the Xbox One and PS4
Good news Deadpool fans: Wade Wilson is coming to the Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PlayStation 4 in a reboot title.Developer Activision confirmed the rumor last week, posting a message from the foul-mouthed superhero himself.
"Now because I’m an incredibly honest and forthright fellow, let me just tell you: these new versions of Deadpool are not 100% perfect (of course they’re perfect. It’s Deadpool, dummy!) (No thing or person is perfect!). You see, in full-disclosure, somehow Wolverine is still in my video game. (See! I told you.) I just… ugh. But it does include all my original DLC, including two Challenge maps (“GRT Plaza” and “Inside the Tower”), as well as the form-fitting Uncanny X-Force and D-Pooly suits (I do loves me some form-fitting) for use in the never-ending thunderdome of carnage I call Infinite Mode," wrote Wade in his characteristically comical style.
It's important to note, however, that this will actually be a re-release of the existing Deadpool video game. Activision first released Deadpool the video game back in 2013 for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360. The game received mixed reviews, however, with IGN giving it a 6/10 rating and Metaritic giving it a 62/100 rating. Nonetheless, fans of the Marvel universe seemed to enjoy it, citing its unique humor and fluid gameplay as being paramount to the title.
Fast forward to the January 2014 and Activision made the decision to pull several Marvel games from Steam, Xbox Live, and the PlayStation Network, one of which was Deadpool. It wasn't until just last week when the company announced plans to bring the title back, only this time will be ported over to the next-generation Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles, along with several key improvements.
So, why is Activision bringing back the Deadpool video game? It's safe to assume the decision was largely attributed to the upcoming film of the same name in which Ryan Reynolds stars as Deadpool. There's no better way for studios to market a new movie than by releasing a video game.
The newly revamped Deadpool video game will feature all of the original release's downloadable content, which includes the Uncanny X-Force and D-Pooly skins, the GRT Plaza and Inside the Tower maps, and infinite mode. Reports indicate that it will cost $49.99 -- a price that includes all of the DLC.
Deadpool the video game will be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on November 17, 2015.
