Keep on Rockin' With the Foo Fighters

The Foo Fighters have gradually grown to become one of the world's most popular rock bands. What really makes them different, however, is their methodical approach to music. Throughout the Foo Fighters' decades-long history, they've won four Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album, which is a pretty impressive feat to say the least. The Foo Fighters are known for putting their heart and soul into their songs, and it really shows if you've ever listened to their music.

Formed in Seattle during the 1990s, the band receives its namesake from the UFOs spotted by aircraft pilots during the second world war. When aircraft pilots would see an unidentified flying object, they would refer to as a "foo fighter." The term has since fading from military context, only to be revived by Dave Grohl and the other members of the Foo Fighters.

Many people are surprised to learn that Dave Grohl was solely responsible for creating the Foo Fighters. Back in the early 1990s, Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana. Following the death of Nirvana's lead singer Kurt Cobain, however, he was forced to take a different route with his music career. In 1994, Grohl formed the Foo Fighters as a one-man group. It wasn't long before Grohl began to recruit other members for the project, though, including bassist Nate Mendel, drummer William Goldsmith, and guitarist Pat Smear.

Counting the Foo Fighters eight albums, the band has sold more than 12 million copies in the US. Their most recent album, Sonic Highways, was released last November, in which Butch Vig helped helped record.

You can show your support for this legendary rock band by sporting one of the Foo Fighters shirts sold here at Belts Buckles Tees. The shirt depicted below features the band's name "Foo Fighters" encircling a wheel with wings. This has become the band's unofficial logo of sorts, with it being displayed in a variety of different memorabilia (shirts included). It's a simple yet brilliant design that really speaks volume about the Foo Fighters' career: they are constantly pushing the envelope to produce better music.

So, what's next for the Foo Fighters? Grohl is currently recovering from a leg injury, and it was believed that the band would miss its North American tour dates. These rumors were soon laid to rest, as the Foo Fighters performed at RFK Stadium on July 4, 2015 in front of just 48,000 fans. There's no word yet on when exactly the band will release a new album, but it's safe to assume it will happen within the next year.
