Ryan Reynolds Visits Cancer Patient as Deadpool

Okay, the casting of Ryan Reynolds for the upcoming Marvel film Deadpool may not have been such a bad idea, because the 38-year-old actor recently took it upon himself to dress up as the sword-wielding antihero to make a cancer patient's dream come true.

News reports indicate that Reynolds had participated in the Make-A-Wish Foundation to do just that: make a child's wish come true. Tony Acevedo is a cancer patient who's been battling Hodgkin's Disease. When he asked Make-A-Wish if they could bring Deadpool to see him at the hospital, Tony didn't expect to see Reynolds dressed up in the full suit and mask. Nonetheless, Reynolds showed up as Deadpool, meeting and even play fighting with Tony.

Reynolds is currently filming "Deadpool" in his hometown here. The film is set for a February 12, 2016 release.

"Tony Acevedo asked Make-A-Wish Foundation if he could meet Deadpool. I wasn't expecting him to sneak the mask, put on the gloves, smile... and then beat Deadpool about the face, arms and jugular with blazing speed,"  wrote Reynolds on his Instagram account. "Tony's next fight is with Hodgkin's Disease. Hodgkin's Disease best be wearing its brown pants. Huge thanks to @makeawishamerica."

As most superhero junkies are well aware of, Deadpool is the upcoming Marvel film based on the character of the same name. It's being directed by Tim Miller and will reportedly be the 8th film in the X-Men franchise. Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, Gina Carano, and T.J. Miller. While the plot has yet to be revealed, it's safe to assume it will follow the same or similar story arc as the comics, in which Deadpool acquires superhuman abilities that he uses to track down the individuals who performed tests on him.

Deadpool is scheduled to hit theaters on February 12, 2016.
