Game of Thrones Season 5 Now Underway

I hope you set your DVR, because Game of Thrones season 5 is officially underway.

Based primarily on the content from novels A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons, the fifth season begins with a prologue from 25 years in the past in which Cersei Lannister (Nell Williams) and (Isabella Steinbarth) cross paths with an older woman whom they believe to be a witch and fortune teller. The fortune teller informs Maggy that she marry the king and have three children, although the king will have twenty children. The grim fortune teller also reveals that a younger queen will ultimately take her down. This was certainly an intense opener for the latest season of GoT, setting the stage for the Lannister's future.

Of course, we don't want to give away too much about about Game of Throne season 5 in case you haven't watched it yet. However, it's safe to say that the season opener was full of suspense and action. If you're still on the fence about watching it, just check out Rotten Tomatoes, where you'll find episode one boasts a perfect 100% rating based on 26 critic reviews. The site says it was a "solid season premiere" and it "ratchets up the anticipation for inevitable bloodshed while deepening focus on characters and locales." If there's one thing us GoT fans love, it's bloodshed.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Peter Dinklage (plays Tyrion) made some surprising revelations about his character and what drives him to seek the last of the dragon tamers. "He's curious. He's heard so many stories about this woman. He hears that she's a kindred spirit, someone who's an outsider who's been pushed to the edges, but has an unfortunate, dirty last name. Everybody associates the Targaryens with the Mad King," said Dinklage. "He wants to know her in person and is tired of hearing the stories. Varys helps convince him of the reality of her. And I think dragons are a big part of it – everybody is denying the reality of these creatures and certainly Tyrion has as well. But just like Tyrion going to The Wall in season one, he likes to see things first hand."
