'Jurassic World' Set Photo Reveals Bloody Dinosaur Attack

Jurassic World, the fourth film in arguably the most popular and successful dinosaur movie franchise of all time, isn't scheduled for release until next year. However, director Colin Trevorrow recently took to his Twitter account to tease sci-fi fans with a photo taken from the set.

In keeping up with the Jurassic Park tradition of dinosaurs attacking, and sometimes eating, their human counterparts, the photo reveals what we assume is the aftermath of a dinosaur attack. As you can see below, the photo reveals a van labeled "Mobile Veterinarian Unit" with a blood-smeared handprint running along the side. Was this the work of a carnivorous velociraptor hunting for prey?

Here's a fun fact that may surprise you: Jurassic World was originally intended to be released in the summer of 2005 -- yes, that's 10 years before the now-confirmed release date. The beginning stages of production began in 2002, when Steven Spielberg and William Monahan collaborated by sharing ideas for the film's plot. Fast forward to 2005, however, and the film still hasn't really picked up momentum.

So, what's with the holdup? Jurassic World's special effects Stan Winston, cited the reason for the delay was Spielberg's countless plot revisions. "He felt neither of [the drafts] balanced the science and adventure elements effectively. It's a tough compromise to reach, as too much science will make the movie too talky, but too much adventure will make it seem hollow," said Winston.

But nonetheless, Jurassic World is almost here, and it looks like the wait might be worth it. The film takes place some 22 years after the original Jurassic Park. Isla Nublar now features a fully functional dinosaur theme park, such as the one envisioned by Dr. Hammond. The Patel Corporation owns and manages the park, and Own (played by Chris Pratt) is behavioral expert who studies the park's veliciraptors.

We still don't know much about the plot, other than the fact that it will probably have plenty of dinosaurs trying to kill people. After all, what would a Jurassic Park film be without viscous man-eating dinosaurs?
